Well... Today i am going to update you all about what happened on Saturday which was yesterday...
We all reached jem's house and at about 1.30p.m.,Cg began even though some were not punctual. This week the message was about building a life of faith and commitment. Wow... the message was really good and learnt a lot from the sermon. Here is a summary of the message....
--Building a Life of commitment and Faith--
when u decide to build the house of God it requires faith & commitment
What is the specific attitude does a christian require to build a house of God???
1)Passion
Exodus 25:21-22 - 21 You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. 22 And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony, about everything which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.
In this scripture it shows that they gave tremendously as they love God.
Exodus 36:3,6-7- 3 And they received from Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of making the sanctuary. So they continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning.
6 So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.” And the people were restrained from bringing, 7 for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done—indeed too much.
Here you can see that Moses must even stop the Offering period as people gave too much beyond the limits. How would it be nice if it happen in the church???This requires a lot of passion....
God's covenant with David
2 Samuel 7:1-2- 1 Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies all around, 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.”
1 chronicles 22:5- 5 Now David said, “Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it.” So David made abundant preparations before his death.
1 chronicles 22:14- 14 Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the LORD one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them.
The second attitude required is...
2)A sacrifice from us
-Giving up desired stuff(eg. when building fund ,you have to use that money to fulfill your pledge instead of using the money to buy your favourite stuff)
-Time (eg. When you can't fulfill your pledge, you can go for a part-time job to fulfill the pledge it requires time and effort)
-Effort(Eg.same as Time)
-We sacrifice as we love God just as much
2 Samuel 24:24 - 24 Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Mark 12:41-44 The Widow’s Two Mites 41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrants. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”
This two scripture shows that we should not give God a sacrifice which is a offering that is not worth nothing to you (eg. if you are a millionaire, giving a $10 to God is nothing. when something is nothing to you, it is nothing to God. When you give something precious to God, The offering is also precious to God.... )
The third and last attitude required is...
3)Faith and Obedience
*Without faith, Pleasing God is Impossible...
*Faith can be so mighty that untill it can move the mountain
Mark 9:20-24 - 20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth. 21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. 22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” 23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
*Ask God for help to build faith and everybody have a certain level of believe
This are the two equation of levels of faith and action:
Faith + No Work = Nothing
Little Faith + Action = Big Results
Joshua 3:11-13 - 11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan. 12 Now therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe. 13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap.”
Joshua 3:14 - 14 So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,
